Ms. Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi was born in Tirana, in 1966.
She is married to Mr. Aleksandër Furxhi and has two children, Sara and Tom.
She is Associated Professor in the field of linguistics, a title granted by the University of Tirana in 2012. She has a PhD degree in Interpreting Studies obtained from the University of Tirana in 2009. In 1994, Ms. Kumbaro earned a Master’s Degree in Interpreting and Intercultural Communication from E.S.I.T – Paris III, Sorbonne-Nouvelle University, in Paris, France. She completed her Bachelor Degree in French Literature at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Languages, in 1988.
Ms. Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi does not have a political background, but she counts an outstanding academic career and a long and active involvement with the civil society, providing her contribution in the areas of culture, education and social issues.
Ms. Kumbaro is an interpreter, translator, publicist and is a distinguished international expert in intercultural projects and university research programmes conducted by international organizations, such as the European Union, the International Francophone Organization.
She is fluent in French and Italian and has very good knowledge of English.
