The new promenade in Tushemisht, one of the most significant infrastructure projects aimed at boosting tourism in Pogradec, is approaching completion. This initiative is part of a comprehensive vision to enhance the quality of life for local residents and strengthen the city’s position as one of Albania’s premier tourist destinations.
Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the construction site to observe the progress firsthand, accompanied by Dritan Agolli, Director of the Albanian Development Fund, and Ilir Xhakolli, Mayor of Pogradec.
“The Tushemisht promenade is now in its final phase. This project continues the wave of transformative developments in the area, including those previously completed in the Drilon zone through our partnership with the Albanian-American Development Foundation. A unique feature of the promenade is the installation of 58 smart lighting units equipped with air quality sensors, security cameras, and interactive touchscreen information displays for tourists,” stated the Director of the Albanian Development Fund, Dritan Agolli.
The project also includes the reconstruction of the road adjacent to the border crossing, which has been redesigned as a shared space for vehicles and bicycles, effectively connecting the promenade to the border point with North Macedonia.
“This new intervention is not only aesthetic but also highly functional. It creates fresh opportunities for business growth and raises the value of local hotels and real estate. Only the final finishing touches remain before we officially deliver a new attraction that reflects the true potential of this city,” emphasized Prime Minister Rama.
Meanwhile, Mayor Ilir Xhakolli confirmed that the promenade, which extends for 1.1 kilometers, will become part of a broader tourism network that connects the city’s urban center with the Drilon area.
