The 4th Diaspora Summit opened today in Tirana, a major national event bringing together Albanians from all corners of the globe on a unique platform for cooperation, identity promotion, and development.

Held on April 13, 14, and 15 under the motto “Through Roots We Rise,” the Summit represents both a symbolic and tangible convergence of Albanian hearts, gathering representatives of the diaspora, state institutions, business, academia, and civil society, with the aim of strengthening the ties between Albania and Albanians living abroad.

The programme features 18 panels across three days, focusing on strengthening economic cooperation and encouraging diaspora-driven investment, highlighting its role in promoting tourism and the country’s image, and underscoring the importance of transferring knowledge and expertise in the fields of education, science, and innovation. Particular emphasis is placed on preserving cultural and linguistic identity, engaging diaspora youth in social and political developments, and building sustainable communication bridges among Albanian professionals worldwide.

The panels will also address challenges and opportunities related to digitalisation, sustainable development, and the improvement of public policies for the diaspora, with the goal of shaping a shared vision for the future and reinforcing connections among Albanians wherever they live.

At the welcome ceremony held today at the Palace of Congresses, the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, conferred honours on distinguished figures of the Albanian diaspora in their respective fields.
