Today, the 8th Intergovernmental Conference Albania – European Union will be held in Brussels, officially opening the way for Albania to enter the closing phase of negotiations for EU membership.
The Intergovernmental Conference follows the decision adopted by the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States of the European Union (COREPER), which confirms the fulfilment of the Interim Benchmarks in the “Fundamentals” Cluster, as well as sets out the Closing Benchmarks for Chapter 23, “Judiciary and Fundamental Rights”, and Chapter 24, “Justice, Freedom and Security”.
Prime Minister Rama will take part in the Conference at the head of a delegation composed of government cabinet ministers.
