Albanian Government Council of Ministers

As part of the day’s activities in Lushnje, Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the new building of the Regional Directorate of Road Transport Services (General Directorate of Road Transport Services), an investment financed by the state budget, which provides dignified working and service conditions for employees and for around 34,000 citizens from Lushnje and Divjaka.

The new facility represents a new standard in the modernisation of public service infrastructure, ensuring not only improved physical conditions for work and service delivery but also a notable increase in the efficiency and quality of services provided to citizens.

The General Director of the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, Kreshnik Bajraktari, stated that this new centre serves not only Lushnje, but also Divjaka, covering a considerable flow of approximately 34,000 vehicle owners. He emphasised that the new organisation of spaces has significantly improved the management of citizen and vehicle flow, eliminating waiting times and overlaps, both for small vehicles and for heavy-duty transport.

During the inspection, it was highlighted that the construction of this building was carried out at zero cost for the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, through a property exchange process and the complete construction of the infrastructure from the ground up, providing a more functional solution and a more favourable positioning of the institution within the territory.

“This is the new technical inspection centre, the Regional Directorate of Lushnje, recently built, where General Directorate of Road Transport Services, in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the Ministry of Economy, has for the first time carried out a property exchange process, through which the entire project was implemented at no cost to General Directorate of Road Transport Services. This regional directorate serves not only Lushnje but also Divjaka. It concerns approximately 34,000 vehicle owners. The advantages include both the location and the internal flow management within the site; therefore, there are no queues or overlapping flows, not only for small vehicles but also for large trucks and trailers. There is also designated parking in order not to obstruct the flow,” explained Bajraktari.

A key innovation of this facility is the significant expansion of the range of services, from 8 previously to 54, including technical inspection, vehicle registration, and licence plate production.

For his part, Prime Minister Edi Rama praised the work carried out and the modernisation achieved in this centre, describing it as a successful model of the transformation of public services in the country.
