Another revitalized healthcare infrastructure in the country is the Municipal Hospital of Mirdita, which, together with its integrated maternity unit, now stands as a key center for health services in northern Albania, offering care in optimal conditions.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, who visited Rubik today, toured the newly rebuilt hospital facilities. The hospital’s emergency department handles 70% of all emergencies and incidents occurring along the Nation’s Route.
“This is the municipal hospital of Mirdita, which holds a strategically important position in our healthcare infrastructure. In addition to serving the municipality of Mirdita, it also caters to the entire region. The hospital suffered significant damage during the earthquake, but thanks to reconstruction funds, the entire infrastructure was rebuilt from scratch. Most importantly, the emergency service here receives 70% of all urgent cases and problems that arise along the Nation’s Road. That’s why the Mirdita Hospital is so important within our hospital network. Everything has been constructed according to the standards of a model emergency service. On the other side, we have the pathology ward—64 doctors and nurses serve here, and the total administrative and medical staff numbers around 130.
“Due to the hospital’s proximity to the Nation’s Road, it regularly receives and treats the most critical emergencies from that route. For this reason, the operating rooms have been heavily invested in—not only in terms of infrastructure but also with state-of-the-art medical equipment,” explained the Minister of Health and Social Protection, who accompanied Prime Minister Rama during the visit
