The Paskuqan Lake Park is being transformed into one of the most important public and recreational spaces in the Tirana–Kamza metropolitan area. Covering 84 hectares, the park represents a sustainable investment in the service of the community, the environment and urban development, becoming a reference point for the quality of life of residents.

During a visit to Paskuqan Lake Park, the Prime Minister, Mr Edi Rama, together with the Mayor of Kamza, Mr Rakip Suli, viewed first-hand the completed investments and the progress of the transformation of this green space.

The park’s infrastructure includes a 5.2-kilometre circular pedestrian promenade, a summer amphitheatre, a pier over the lake, children’s playgrounds, cycle lanes, as well as sports facilities for volleyball, basketball, tennis and football. The park is visited daily by thousands of citizens, particularly on days with good weather, serving as a space for relaxation, physical activity and social interaction.

The Mayor of Kamza, Mr Rakip Suli, stated that the Paskuqan Lake Park has been built from the ground up and represents a major investment for the entire area. “This whole area is 84 hectares, and the lake’s water surface alone is around 18 hectares. We have filled it with trees: we are looking at around 80,000 trees. The sports facilities you see here, Prime Minister, are the same as those on the Paskuqan side because the park borders Bathore and Paskuqan, serving around 152,000 residents. It offers the same facilities with courts of volleyball basketball, tennis, and football,” said the Mayor of Kamza.

The Director of the Albanian Development Fund, Mr Dritan Agolli, stressed that the investment has been designed to serve young people and to promote recreational and sporting activities.

According to the Mayor of Kamza, the investment has also had a direct impact on increasing the value of surrounding properties.

During the visit to the park, Prime Minister Mr Edi Rama praised the transformation and described Paskuqan Lake Park as a model for the rational management of natural assets. He underlined the importance of promoting water sports, particularly canoeing, suggesting the establishment of a dedicated base for this activity.

“Intensive work continues on a transformation that does not stop, and this park is beginning to take on a shape such that it is enough to imagine how the tree canopy will grow in the coming years to understand that, thanks to the Mayor, with the support of the Albanian Development Fund, a priceless green asset will be given to the capital by Kamza. And when you see this transformation, you feel regret about how, in the past, equally valuable assets such as Farka Lake or the ‘Liqeni i Thate’ were damaged and devalued before those areas could be brought under rational administration. Nevertheless, we learn from Kamza and we move forward by following Kamza’s example,” Prime Minister Rama stated.

The transformation of Paskuqan Lake Park is part of a long-term vision for sustainable urban development, turning Kamza into a positive example of how public spaces can be regenerated for the benefit of the community and future generations.
